Since 2007, Mid America Agri Products/Wheatland (MAAPW) has been pushing the boundaries of what efficiency and sustainability mean for ethanol production.
When CEO and founder Robert Lundeen conceptualized the idea to build an ethanol plant in Southwestern Nebraska in 2002, the mission was clear: To create a company that would foster strong relationships with local farmers and maintain impeccable operations in order to become a national leader in the production of renewable energy. With more than twenty years behind us, we’re proud to say MAAPW has accomplished that mission - and so much more.
At MAAPW, we recognize that the world relies on ethanol production to keep moving forward. That’s why our plant is in continuous operation - running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year. Our state-of-the-art ethanol plant grinds approximately 16.5 million bushels of corn annually, producing around 48 million gallons of ethanol each year. We also generate 400,000 tons of Wet Distillers’ Grains with Solubles (WDGS), 16.5 million pounds of Distillers’ Corn Oil (DCO), and 140,000 metric tons of Biogenic CO2 annually.
We primarily serve the Front Range and West Coast markets, selling ethanol to refiners and gasoline blenders. Our distillers’ grains are supplied to local cattle feeders, while our corn oil is directed to the Renewable Diesel sector. In an industry where ethanol and distillers’ grains are commodities, we distinguish ourselves by consistently delivering products on time and hassle-free, ensuring customer loyalty.
Without the tireless effort of our agricultural partners, the ethanol industry would cease to exist. At MAAPW, we prioritize sourcing a majority of our corn needs directly from local farmers, while also working closely with area co-ops and grain merchandisers to meet our operational demands. Our commitment to operating a highly efficient plant ensures that the needs of our farmers are met, enabling swift and seamless delivery management.
Our long-standing relationships with farmers, refiners, cattle feeders, and gasoline blenders are based on years of accountability and trust - and the belief that protecting the integrity of these mutually beneficial relationships is paramount. In a high-competition industry, we believe that running a tight ship through logistics and delivery is critical. At MAAPW, the farmers we work with know that they won’t get stuck in long lines waiting to transfer their corn, and our customers can count on their products to be delivered on time and with ease.
Since our inception in 2002, Mid America Agri Products/Wheatland has remained true to the Great Plains values that were integral to our foundation. At MAAPW, collaboration, strategy, and innovation are the cornerstones of our company culture. We believe in sharing ideas, skills, and efforts to adapt to an ever-changing environment. These tenets have allowed us to stay on the cutting edge of operational improvement and become a leader in our industry.
Our forward-thinking team is consistently exploring new avenues for growth. Our current focus involves incorporating CO2 sequestration and finding strategic alternatives for our ethanol, beyond the traditional liquid fuels market. From our Lead Operators to our Lab Analysts, the process of skill-sharing and collaborative problem-solving is essential. Our team helps guide our path forward with new ideas for constant operational improvement within an ever-evolving production landscape.
